If you are a pet owner or have a house full of kids Crypton Fabric is absolutely the choice for you! The Black Goose Design carries this incredible fabric option to consider before your next big furniture purchase. Entertaining, dinner parties, game day and sleepovers will never be the same and here's 5 life changing reasons why....

1. It's Stain Resistant
Check out this video to see it for yourself!

2. It's Odor Resistant
That's a dream come true for anyone that has ever had a house full of boys after their football game for a team sleepover!

3. It's Moisture Resistant
Which means no chance of mold or mildew getting through to the cushions after that major spill. That also means healthier indoor air quality for the people you care about.

4. Strong & Durable
With all the different colors and textures to choose from you will get tired of it long before it wears out and that's okay with us. At The Black Goose Design...we can ALWAYS help you out with an updated Crypton sectional!

5. It's Easy to Clean
The only thing that would make this fabric perfect would be it's self cleaning, but until they can figure that one out for us here's what you'll need to do:

1. Wipe away the excess mess with a dry, clean towel.
2. Mix together a simple soap and water solution. Crypton recommends mixing 1/4     teaspoon enzyme laundry detergent, like Tide or Cheer, with 1 cup warm water.
3. Apply the solution and agitate with a soft bristle brush.
4. Blot with a clean towel and rinse. Repeat if necessary. And remember, soap
attracts dirt so make sure to rinse thoroughly.

Now that you're sold on the magic of Crypton Fabric the only thing left to do is come down to The Black Goose Design, pick out the perfect new sectional, dining chairs or barstools with the Crypton Fabric of your choice and start living your life on Crypton!

COLOR PICKING: That's White, Right?

Go ahead, admit it. We've all done it. You picked out what you thought was the perfect white paint under the fluorescent lights at the paint store only to discover it looked too pink or too yellow or too gray when you finished painting your room at home.

At The Black Goose Design, picking paint colors is one of our favorite things to do. So in no particular order here are our favorites. We have taken out the guess work.... you're welcome!

White Dove by Benjamin Moore is perfect for trims. Compliments every color and is not too stark.

Marscapone by Benjamin Moore is a warm white and great for basement walls and to brighten up dark spaces.

Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore is a gray white perfect for walls needing or wanting a hint of gray.

Mountain Peak White by Benjamin Moore is a crisp white ideal for kitchen cabinets.

Dover White 6385 by Sherwin Williams is a creamy white and very nice for bedrooms layering bright whites and creams together.

Extra White 7006 by Sherwin Williams is a cool white that's amazing for contemporary spaces.

Antique White 6119 by Sherwin Williams works for more traditional spaces and provides a cozy lived in feel.

Alabaster White 7008 by Sherwin Williams is touted as the "perfect white of all time".

If you still feel like none of these are quite what you were looking for, the designers at The Black Goose Design are well equipped with plenty of paint decks to find the one white that's right for you... Give us a call at 801.562.1933. We're located just south of downtown Salt Lake City in Midvale, Utah.

5 Interior Design Basics

Whether you're redecorating one room or you're hiring an interior designer from The Black Goose Design to revamp your entire living space, it helps to understand the basics of interior design.

Interior Design is an arrangement of 5 basic elements and composition.

Designer Lisa Dodge chose this piece of art to show FOCAL POINT. This is a point of visual reference that always brings the eye back to "homebase".

SCALE & PORPORTION refers to overall size, while porportion relates the size of parts compared to the whole. Designer Michelle DeHart used the lamp on the left as a "DON'T" and the lamp on the right as a "DO". Keep these two factors in mind when selecting furniture.

Designer Randi Smith chose this area of The Black Goose Design to show HARMONY & UNITY.
Using similar elements is blending while unity refers to the overall sense of belonging.

CONTRAST is also known as texture and pattern. Designer Ellie Smart used opposites side by side. Black/White...Hard/Soft, but says, "use contrast in small doses".

VARIETY is a combination of contrast and harmony & unity. Designer Denise Johnson chose this room at The Black Goose Design to show that not enough contrast makes a room dull while too much makes it confusing. This room is absolutely wonderful!

If looking at these concepts gets your imagination going for a new design project we are offering 1/2 off design services until the end of July....the holidays are just around the corner so don't wait! Call us today. We have a full staff of designers ready to help you with your design needs.

ART, ART and more ART

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
                                                                                                                -Pablo Picasso

Art is one of our favorite things to accessorize with at The Black Goose Design. It is a way to personalize your home and tell a little bit about you and your family. Art is able to evoke all different kinds of emotion and can speak to your soul in a way that other elements of interior design can't.

The Black Goose Design offers an incredible variety of artwork that will take your interior design vision to a new level and add a unique layer of personality to your home. Catalogs are always available to find the perfect piece of art for you!

On a little side note...The Black Goose Design owns a rare piece of art in the form of our
 store manager, Randi Smith.
Randi just recently celebrated her 20 year anniversary with Gardner Mill Company.
If you are fortunate enough to know Randi, you know that she can paint a masterpiece with her fantastic storytelling and imagination..... Congratulations Randi!
